A new era of cybersecurity. A new evolution of Onwardly.
A brand is more than its logo or colours. A brand is everything that represents who you have become, what you stand for, and where you are going. As a startup, we are constantly evolving and we needed a brand refresh that reflected that.
Since founder and CEO Phil Howie founded Onwardly in 2020, the business has continued to grow and scale—therefore, our brand needed to evolve with it.
The new brand is “not a rewrite, but a refinement,” explains Phil.
This is the next gen of what we hope to achieve as a business, for our customers.
Over the past few months, our team has worked collaboratively to revolutionise the Onwardly brand and move forward key elements that will define our mission towards security for every business. This led us to create a 7 day free trial of Onwardly, now available for the first time.
In 2020, Phil saw a problem in the way that security work was being done.
There was nothing on the market quite like Onwardly. The cybersecurity industry was inaccessible to most, and expensive to say the least.
With Onwardly, Phil set about to change that by providing an accessible, affordable and achievable way for every business to proactively secure themselves.
Through listening to customer feedback, building a team, mapping out a product roadmap, and partnering with experts in security and privacy, Onwardly has reached new heights—and our mission needed to capture that.
Our mission is to democratise security and privacy. We believe that cybersecurity is the single most powerful tool for business growth and continuity, yet few businesses actually have access to it in an affordable and achievable way.
Onwardly enables everyone, not just those with unlimited resourcing, to protect their data and move their mission forward.

As a startup, we are moving fast—however, it was important for us to really think about whether our brand was conveying our message: to make security accessible to all.
We ultimately decided to update our brand mark. As Phil said: “Not a rewrite, but a refinement.”
The previous logo didn’t connect to our name, which comes from the idea of moving forward—in context, how we help tech founders and startups to move security forward, faster.
The shapes you see in the new brand mark are inspired by the Braille letter for ‘O’ and visually create a forward pointing arrow, both of which time in with our mission to enable every business to secure themselves.
Our new wordmark takes its form from our commitment to providing a clear and accessible user experience.
In terms of our colour palette, we went brighter, more vibrant, and accessible (to connect with our value of ‘Innovate for everyone’). We retained our previous Onwardly teal and introduced additional tones of purple and orange to convey our bright future. The tints and shades of our primary, secondary and tertiary colours are modern, and meet the requirements of Web Accessibility Standards.
